Yes! Safety always comes first in my line of work. Fires are hot, smelly and dangerous. When I’m in the lab I have to wear a lab coat, safety glasses and heat proof gloves. Luckily I’ve never suffered any big injuries but I have lost a few hairs from the back of my hands!

Engineers spend a lot of time minimising risks so we work hard to make sure everything is as safe as possible.

I have to wear hard hat, steel capped boots and a hi-vis jacket when I go on construction sites to make sure I’m safe! I’ve never had any injuries!

Our motto at work is ‘Nothing you do is worth getting hurt for’.

When on our operational sites I wear hi-vis bib/jacket, shoes with steel toe caps and soles and gloves. In some cases I need a gas detector, harness and fall arrest block along with an escape set (breathing mask). If I’m on a construction site I also have to wear a hard hat and eye protection.
