• Question: Do you think there is a stereotype that all engineers are male?

      Yes there is, its WRONG and we’re working to prove that!
      We do need more girls in engineering though so if you’re interested- go for it!

      Absolutely. It is sad because this does not reflect the modern engineer, or the engineering profession at all! There is so much diversity!!

      Yes – but stereotypes can be challenged and hopefully that’s what we’re doing!
      There are fantastic male and female engineers – I’d like it to be that everyone is judged on what they do – not on assumptions based on gender!

      I’m not sure that there is a stereotype around all engineers being male, but it definitely is true that most engineers are male.

      A lot of work is being done to encourage females into engineering and this is coming from the Government too – at the moment the national norm is that 1 in 10 engineers are female. In my team of 16 there is only 1 female!
