Absolutely. For me the biggest change was realising that everything around us has been designed deliberately to meet a certain need or to serve a purpose. Whether its trains, iPhones or buildings, they have all been engineered in some way. This opened my eyes to the bewildering array of science that we rely on in everyday life. Very awe-inspiring!

Hugely yes, when I look at even a really simple thing like a pencil, and think about how much engineering has gone into that, it blows my mind!
Every single man-made thing in the world exists because of engineers!

      Great question Rachel

The beauty about engineering is it always fascinates people. I look at the world very differently now and i have a real appreciation of everything around me. Our greatest engineered roads, pipe systems and electricity networks were built hundreds of years ago – engineering is here to stay!

Yes and no, I’ve always been interested in why things are made like they are and how everything fits together.
I guess engineering has shown me ways to find out more about things, where to go if I’m interested in how something is made or who to speak to!

I don’t think engineering has changed me as a person…I feel at heart that I was destined for engineering. Engineering has helped me to develop into the person I am today though.
