• Question: how big is the biggest windturbine

      I think it’s currently being built just off the coast of Scotland, near Fife.
      It’s a 196m tall, 7MW turbine — which is apparently capable of powering 4,800 homes.
      Pretty incredible!

      Looks like cathy has the answer. Ive climbed to the top of a wind turbine… and its a long way up! Spectacular views and they are not as noisy as you may think 🙂

      We are currently planning to put a wind turbine at one of our sites, we are going for a 500 kW turbine that is 78 m tall. Tiny compared to the biggest one though.

      7MW is a lot of energy. In fire terms its about the same power as 2 cars burning! 🙂
