• Question: how does a flushing toilet have enough power to get rid of waste

      Hi Katherine

      Brilliant question and when I was younger I used to wonder how it worked too! A toilet works mainly because of gravity. When you press the flush a valve opens and lets the water in the toilet bowl. When the bowl is full enough, gravity helps the water to leave through the pipebend.
