• Question: if you could change one thing in the big ben what would it be

      Good question. Did you know that Big Ben is the name of the bell that is at the top of the tower and not the actual tower?

      I’d probably change the way that they keep the clock in time. At the moment they use old coins to add tiny bits of weight to the mechanism to make the clock faster or slower. Because Big Ben is very old the coins they need are no longer used in circulation so they have to keep a special collection!

      Although I love the history of this, I think we could engineer a better solution than that!

      I wouldn’t change anything about it. I think it is a fine bell and the building that it is housed in is wonderful to look at.

      Unlike Rory I think we should keep the old way of keeping the clock in time 🙂

      Ooh! I never knew that about how they keep time! I’m undecided as to whether that should still happen – it’s a pretty cool piece of history!

      I do love Big Ben – if I’m nearby in London I usually go over to the Houses of Parliament – it always makes me feel very British!

      Perhaps I’d change the traffic that’s always around there – some sort of smart traffic monitoring?
