That’s a good (if scary!) question!
If there was a nationwide powercut our way of turning the lights back on is to work with powerstations who can start up using their emergency supplies (batteries, generators etc).
Electricity is so important for the Country to run – so we don’t just rely on one power station, or one sort of fuel – we have several options of stations that we can use.
If we had an issue with one, then it might take a little longer – but its still possible to start up the other power stations, carefully balance their output with local electricity demand (that’s you and me at home!) and then slowly start to build out from their – making cables live to other power stations so they can start up and start to provide power to more homes.
      Hope that answers your question!
