• Question: My dad is a civil engineer, what does that mean ??:^)

      It probably means he designs infrastructure- so bridges, highways, railways or drainage, or he’s specialised in one of those. I’m a type of civil engineer too 😉

      Why not ask your dad if you can go with him one day – see what he does. Or ask him what he gets up to in his day – what problems does he solve and how!

      As a mechanical engineer I would say that your dad is a builder! Civil engineers just pour concrete right? I will probably get shouted at for that one!

      In my work we constantly battle between engineering disciplines to determine who is best…mechanical engineers are plumbers, electrical engineers are sparkies, process engineers are wizards and civil engineers are builders.
