      Hi Paula

      Fab question!

I think the best ( and easiest) method of saving energy is by switching things off at the wall and not just putting on standby. This includes lights, tv’s, games consoles, chargers etc. The best thing about it is everyone has the tools needed available to them already 🙂 all they need is a finger to switch it off

Did you know…A typical household could save between £45 and £80 a year just by remembering to turn off appliances left on standby.

Carbon capture storage is a good technology to reducing carbon emissions, what you do is to take the carbon that’s produced from fossil fuels in power stations and industry processes and store it, usually several km under the earths surface.
It’s not on a house by house basis – but if we could capture up to 90% of the CO2 emissions from power stations think of the impact that would have!

      Hello,

I think that re-use of materials is one of the best methods and turning waste into a product. Additionally making use of what nature gives us, for the water industry gravity is the best thing – Manchester’s water supply gets from the Lake District to Manchester purely by gravity!

I think Jaz has covered household saving very well…personally I save on gas by burning scrap wood on my log burner 🙂

      Hi,
I think this is a really good question. I don’t think that there is one method that will solve this problem. It will be a lot of small things that add up to make a big change. Jaz is full of great tips. We need to take responsibility as individuals and change our lifestyles.

There are also great options for renewable energy sources but these are still in the very early stages of deployment. I think there will be loads of cool new renewable energy technologies in the coming years.
