      Hi William

My biggest challenge every morning is waking up and getting to work on time 🙂

Looking after the energy and water used across so many Debenhams stores is very challenging as I don’t get round to all the sites and we have over 25,000 people working in our stores. Getting messages to them all can be difficult, so instead I send energy and water saving tips and weekly usage reports to all the store managers.

Great question Williams – Thanks for taking the time to ask it

I design sky scrapers (I worked on The Shard!) and I used to go to the construction site to look at it coming out of the ground.

I hate the cold and heights so sometimes I found visiting site a challenge! BUT watching your design coming to life is AMAZING so that trumps all the other challenges 🙂

      Hi William,

For me, dealing with Electrical and Process Engineers! I’m sure they are from another planet!

In all seriousness though I find the most challenging aspect of my job is dealing with many different people of different levels and understanding. Communication is such an important aspect of the job, get it wrong and it can cause a lot of confusion and in some cases anger & frustration – you could be the most technically able person but if you can’t communicate your thoughts to others you won’t get anywhere!

      Hello William

I used to spend a lot of time working in a laboratory. We got to burn a lot of fun things (book cases, sofas, christmas trees). Now I have to spend more time at my desk and not as much as I would like in the lab. Getting the balance of where to spend my time right is the biggest challenge for me!

      William

My most challenging thing at the moment is deciding where I spend my time.

There are so many things happening in the electricity industry – and so many people who want to speak to me about Black Starts and what it might mean for the company/country that I have a hard time keeping up!

Prioritising my work is really important – so I’m being really strict with myself at the moment and making sure I balance everything to make sure I do my job well and also make sure I’m speaking to other departments and people about how we can work together and the benefits that will bring.

Hope that answers your question – thanks for asking!

      Cathy
