• Question: when can we send robots (not including rovers or landers) like real, proper duplicate of a human into space?

      Again I honestly don’t know. I would say the potential issue would be making sure the robot had enough artificial intelligence to survive.

      Now there’s an interesting question – I’m not sure!
      I think we’d have to build the duplicate human-robot first but if you look here: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/main/robonaut.html you’ll see NASA are working on Robonaut to help astronauts in space – so I presume your thoughts would be a step on from here!

      I think we need to get a proper human robot working on earth before we send them off to mars! The question is, do we really need a humonoid robot which is expensive and complicated if a rover type robot does the job?

      I don’t really know either. It might be easier to send one into space than make it work here. Two legged walking robots often have a lot of trouble walking (we think its easy but they find it hard to programme the robots). In space there is no gravity so they wouldn’t fall over so much!

      I have met Asimo – the honda robot when i went to Tokyo, he is awesome! he can jump/ skip/wave/run… i dont think we are too far from seeing human robots on earth… agree with everyone we would need to get them on earth first before sending out to space
